Image
International Journal of Managing Information Technology (IJMIT) ISSN: 0975-5586 (Online); 0975-5926 (Print) http://airccse.org/journal/ijmit/ijmit.html Article: Simulating Hype Cycle Curves with Mathematical Functions : Some Examples of High-Tech Trends in Japan Authors Hiroshi Sasaki, Rikkyo University, Japan Abstract In this study, a method to simulate Gartner’s hype cycle [1] is proposed. A search of the academic  literature on this topic provides no clear guidance on how to draw hype cycle curves with mathematical  functions. This article explores a new process for simulating the curve as a combination of bell-shaped  curves and S-shaped curves, and applies this process to some high-tech innovations in Japan. Trends in  technologies such as customer relationship management (CRM), supply chain management (SCM), and  cloud computing are analyzed by using a corpus of 4,772 newspaper articles. For these examples,  Gompertz functions show better fit than lo...

Managing It Innovation: Recessionary and Post-Recessionary Service and Staffing Models

Image
International Journal of Managing Information Technology (IJMIT) ISSN: 0975-5586 (Online); 0975-5926 (Print) http://airccse.org/journal/ijmit/ijmit.html Article: Managing It Innovation: Recessionary and Post-Recessionary Service and Staffing Models Authors Joseph M. Woodside, Stetson University, US Abstract Information Technology (IT) service and staffing models were increasingly reduced in the wake of recession, which often limits focus for long-term innovation, as the remaining services and staff are focused  on producing short-term requirements. Despite these cutbacks, organizations must continue to innovate and  provide contributions to the set of stakeholders. In addition as the post-recessionary timeframe begins,  organizations that continued to innovate throughout the recession, must retain human capital and take  advantage of their prior investments. Organizations that focus on innovation during recessionary  timeframes, are more likely to emerge ...

Image
International Journal of Managing Information Technology (IJMIT) ISSN: 0975-5586 (Online); 0975-5926 (Print) http://airccse.org/journal/ijmit/ijmit.html Article: Roles of E-Service in Economic Development, Case Study of Nigeria, A Lower-Middle Income Country Authors Kazeem Oluwakemi Oseni and Kate Dingley, University of Portsmouth, United Kingdom Abstract E-Government activities are still very low in Nigeria, a lower middle-income country, and this is hindering E-Service adoption. E-Service is inextricably linked to E-Government and they will not develop separately,  but as one progresses the other moves forward. Having a new technology like E-service opens new  opportunities for government, private and public sectors. Despite the fact that the new technology will not  be without a hindrance, the overall benefits of using outweigh its lapses. Nigeria has overtaken South Africa as top Africa economy. There is still more to be done in increasing the  revenue of ...
